§ 8.107. Division of collections created; duties of collections officer.

There shall be in the department of finance a division of collections, which shall
consist of the collections officer and such other officers and employees, organized
into such units, as may be provided by ordinance or by the director of finance consistent
with ordinance. The collections officer shall be appointed for an indefinite term
by the mayor, subject to the civil service provision of this Charter, and he or she
shall be the head of the division of collections. The collections officer shall have
at least five (5) years' experience in which the supervision of financial activities
shall have been his or her major responsibility. The collections officer's salary
shall be twelve thousand ($12,000) dollars per annum, payable semimonthly. It shall
be the duty of the collections officer to collect and receive delinquent real and
personal property taxes or tax equivalents and all merchants' ad valorem taxes that
have been delinquent for more than six (6) months as well as any interest and penalties
thereon. The collections officer shall collect and receive all revenues, income and
moneys due the metropolitan government accruing to the urban services district, the
general services district, or any other source, except as otherwise provided for by
other parts of this Charter, by ordinance, or by the general law.
