§ 14.09A. Same—Presiding judge.

  • There is hereby created the position of presiding judge of the metropolitan general sessions court of Nashville and Davidson County, who shall be one (1) of the judges of said court. The presiding judge of the court shall be selected by a majority vote of the judges of the court. In the event of a vacancy or incapacity or inability of the presiding judge, the remaining judges of the court by majority vote, shall select another presiding judge who shall be one of the judges of said court to serve the remaining term. The presiding judge shall be responsible for the preparation and submittal of budgets of said court to the metropolitan government and its appropriate departments, committees and agencies. He or she shall have authority to call meetings of the other judges of the court who shall be required to attend such meetings for he or she purpose of discussing various problems pertaining to the conduct and operation of said court. The presiding judge shall promulgate all rules necessary for the supervision, conduct and administration of the court, including but not limited to the following: 1. Prescribing the days and hours when the courts sitting in branches, parts or divisions shall be in session, including a night court session as shall be deemed necessary; 2. assigning of civil, criminal and traffic cases to respective branches, parts and divisions of said court.
