§ 5.07. Pension for mayor.

  • After the mayor shall have served two (2) full terms, he or she shall receive an annual pension equivalent to ten (10%) percent of his or her salary during the last year of his or her second term, and after he or she shall have served three (3) full terms (in lieu of the lesser pension) he or she shall receive an annual pension equivalent to twenty-five (25%) percent of his or her salary during the last year of his or her third term. The amount of this pension shall not be increased by subsequent years of service as mayor. The pension herein provided shall be suspended during any subsequent period that the mayor shall be a compensated officer or employee of the metropolitan government and, if accepted, shall be in lieu of any pension which said mayor may be entitled to receive from the metropolitan government by reason of service as an officer or employee of the City of Nashville.

    Any pension which a person may be entitled to receive from the metropolitan government by reason of services as mayor of the City of Nashville shall also be suspended during the period that such person shall be a compensated officer or employee of the metropolitan government.
