§ 8.404. Director of public works—Qualifications and compensation.

The head of the department of public works shall be the director, whose annual compensation,
payable semimonthly, shall be fifteen thousand ($15,000) dollars. A permanent vacancy
in the office of director shall be filled by appointment made by the mayor, subject
to the civil service provisions of this Charter. He or she shall have had at least
five (5) years' experience in industry or in municipal or metropolitan public works.
In the event of temporary vacancy in the office of director due to sickness, absence
or other disability, a temporary appointment may be made by the mayor, subject to
the civil service provisions of this Charter.
