§ 15.48.170. Adjustments—Due to incorrect meters.

Latest version.
  • A.

At the written request of an owner, consumer or customer, the department shall test the meter supplying the premises, and the result of the test shall be reported to the owner or consumer in each case.

    B.

If the testing of the meter on a flow equal to one-eighth of the diameter of the service line shows that it fails to register correctly within two percent, the charge to the consumer or customer shall be adjusted according to the variation of registration from one hundred percent, but such adjustments shall apply to the current period, only, unless it is apparent to the department that the consumption of a previous period has also been affected by the same cause.

    C.

In the event a consumer or customer has paid an amount greater than the actual water and/or sewer usage due to an incorrect meter, the department shall reimburse the consumer or customer upon request rather than applying a credit to the consumer or customer's account.
