§ 15.60.440. Emergency termination of service.

  • In the event of an actual or threatened discharge to the POTW of any pollutant which in the opinion of the director presents or may present an imminent and substantial endangerment to the health or welfare of persons or the environment, or cause interference with the POTW, the director, or in his absence the person then in charge of the treatment works, shall immediately notify the Emergency Response Office of the nature of the emergency. The director shall also attempt to notify the industrial user or other person causing the emergency and request their assistance in abating same. Following consultation with the aforementioned officials of the metropolitan government, or in their absence such elected officials of the metropolitan government as may be available, the director shall temporarily terminate the service of such user or users as are necessary to abate the condition when such action appears reasonably necessary. Such service shall be restored by the director as soon as the emergency situation has been abated or corrected.
