§ 16.24.560. Findings, appointment, and purpose.

  • The metropolitan council finds that there exists in Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County dwellings and structures that are unfit for human habitation, occupation, or use due to dilapidation, defects increasing the hazards of fire, accident or other calamities, lack of ventilation, light or sanitary facilities, or due to other conditions rendering such structures unsafe or unsanitary, or dangerous or detrimental to the health, safety or morals, or otherwise inimical to the welfare of the residents of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County. Therefore, the director of the department of codes administration is hereby appointed to enforce this chapter and to implement the power conferred upon the Metropolitan Government by Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 13, Chapter 21 (T.C.A. § 13-21-101 et seq.) to exercise its police powers to repair, close, or demolish the aforementioned dwellings and structures in the manner herein provided.
