§ 5.04.075. Procedure for grant applications subject to council approval.

Latest version.
  • A.

    Departments, agencies, boards and commissions of the metropolitan government seeking grant funding for which the grant application is required to be approved by the metropolitan council shall make every effort to obtain council approval of the grant application before it is submitted to the grantor. In the event there is insufficient time to obtain council approval before the grant application deadline, it is permissible for a metropolitan government department, agency, board or commission to submit the grant application to the grantor contingent upon approval by the council. In the event the council does not approve a grant application that has been previously submitted, the application shall be deemed null and void and any funds received from the grantor shall be returned by the metropolitan government.

    B.

    Grant applications that are not otherwise required to be approved by the metropolitan council may be submitted to the grantor by metropolitan government departments, agencies, boards, and commissions without being considered by the metropolitan council if:

    1.

    The grant, once awarded, would not require a local cash match from the metropolitan government;

    2.

    The application itself does not contain any terms or provisions that would subject the metropolitan government or any of its employees to any liability; and

    3.

    The department of finance and the department of law are notified in writing of the grant application at the time it is submitted.
