§ 6.04.080. Metal signs on street markers permitted when.

  • A.

    It is lawful for any place of worship or other nonprofit organization operated solely for the public welfare to place or cause to be placed on top of street markers metal signs announcing, pointing to or otherwise indicating the location of such places of worship or organizations. Such signs shall be securely fastened in an approved manner on the top of such street markers so as not to create a hazard to persons or property or to damage or deface the street marker, and shall be not more than twenty-four inches wide nor more than eighteen inches high, shall be at least eighteen inches in from the vertical plane of the curb and at least nine feet above the average grade of the sidewalk adjacent to the marker on which the sign is placed. Such signs shall not be placed over a traveled way.

    B.

    No such sign shall be placed so as to interfere with traffic-control devices and signs, nor more than two blocks distant from the organization which it is announcing. The placing of such signs shall be removed within three days after notice to do so by the director of public works.
