§ 6.75.020. Required and term.

  • A.

    No pedal carriage or pedicab shall be used or operated on a for hire basis by any person in the territorial jurisdiction of the metropolitan government without an owner or operator having first obtained a certificate of public convenience and necessity. Each certificate shall be valid for one year and shall be subject to renewal pursuant to the provisions set forth in this article.

    B.

    It shall be unlawful for any person to transport or offer to transport passengers in any pedal carriage or pedicab which does not have affixed to the pedal carriage or pedicab a valid permit issued through the MTLC.

    C.

    Certificates shall not be transferred, sold or given from one owner to another including the sale of one pedal carriage or pedicab company in its entirety to another.

    D.

    The MTLC shall track all certificates, and after the renewal period, if the certificate has not been renewed it shall be determined to be void.
