In case the person who receives a majority of the votes cast for the office involved
shall fail to qualify within ten (10) days after receiving notice of election, the
office shall be deemed vacant and filled as provided by law for the filling of a vacancy
in said office; but if the incumbent receives a majority of the votes cast in such
election, he or she shall continue in office.
In case of a tie vote between the candidates in such runoff election, it shall be
broken as provided by Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 2-8-111.
